FERRETTI YACHTS

OVERVIEW:

Our client is exploring a joint venture with Ferretti Yachts in the specialized charter business. There is a growing group of people that are interested in health and wellness and a more private yachting experience. They have asked us to experiment with the re-design of the interior spaces of the yacht to accommodate this type of charter program that could be offered to this growing group of passengers.

The Ferretti Custom Line 100 offers a top of the class accommodation has been created to provide comfort and luxury for up to 12 guests. As it exists, the general arrangement provides five cabins, including one master suite, two VIP staterooms and two twin cabins both with a Pullman berth.

There is a crew of 5 who operate the vessel and who provides spa, wellness, and meal services to the guests.

TRENDS:

Consumer demand for healthier travel is now steering the way for a different, complete wellness-focused approach. Wellness businesses are “coming aboard,” to allow water bound travelers to de-stress and keep healthy while they set sail and even once they dock; and the competition is keen.

Today’s “floating hotels” are providing some of the largest, most impressive, comprehensive spa and wellness programming and facilities available in the world, ranging from full floors to full boats, making for a truly healthy cruise vacation amid the high seas. Spa menus are evolving as well: Seafarers can now return home looking well-rested not only from massage or facials but from high-tech medical spa services, from Botox and dermal fillers to teeth whitening and acupuncture to Ionithermie.

The vessel should not only provide spa and wellness facilities, but enhancements like Zen-like guest rooms, healthful cuisine, and wellness programming both onboard and off.

GOALS:

  • Understand the different scales of the spa and wellness industry
  • Establish awareness of the various principles and guidelines
  • Produce a viable design regarding how this program may work onboard a 100’yacht
  • Identify and define relevant aspects of design problem (goals, objectives, performance criteria)
  • Develop a creative and inspirational design that addresses the program
